Homestead Miami

APR Motorsport is proud to announce that veteran Continental Tire Challenge driver Daniel Orr will be joining Ian Baas in the Audi S4 starting at Homestead Miami Speedway. Daniel will be moving to the APR Motorsport team after driving in the ST class last year, and making his GS debut at Daytona in a Camaro.
Jeff Mishtawy, Director of Motorsport for APR said, “I’m ecstatic to have Daniel onboard with us in the Audi. We took notice of his great run at Daytona, and are looking forward to hearing his feedback on the Audi S4. He’s going to be an excellent addition to the team and we’re going to have a great run at Homestead.”
When Ian Baas learned about the signing he remarked, “Daniel has shown tremendous ability behind the wheel, I saw it firsthand last year when I raced against him in the ST class. I can’t wait to share a seat with him at Homestead. With his talent, he’s going to be fast straight away, and we’re going to have a great weekend at Homestead!”
Daniel Orr is a driver who has proven his talents in a variety of classes, ranging from Karts, and SCCA classes, to his runs last year in the ST class of Continental Tire Challenge. It is this diverse background that has led to APR’s interest in Daniel, “Having drivers like Daniel, who have driven a variety of vehicles in their career, is one of the things we look for. Drivers like this tend to have better feedback and adaptability since they have had to adapt too many different situations. Since APR is an engineering company, we believe that a driver’s technical feedback is of the upmost importance, and we know that Daniel will be perfect for this role; as we continue to develop the first Audi S4 for the Continental Tire Challenge,” Jeff Mishtawy went on to explain.
In addition to his on track performance Daniel is a partner at Rendorseg Motors, a car brokerage in Oklahoma. This business knowledge makes Daniel an excellent representative for APR. For more information on Daniel Orr, and his partners please visit www.danielorrracing.com.
Daniel’s debut for APR will mark the second time the Audi S4 has competed in the Continental Tire Challenge. The APR Motorsport Audi S4 is also the one of the first forced induction, all wheel drive vehicles to compete in the Grand Sport class. At the first event the Audi ran strong in the top 15 for much of the event, eventually finishing in a 19th place. This event showed the car’s inherent reliability and speed. During the break between the events the crew has been hard at work at APR’s Opelika, AL headquarters developing the S4 further, and is looking forward to showing off the improvements made at this weekend’s Homestead 200.

"Fresh from Florida 200" January 29, 2010 a Rousing Success!

Hi you guys! Allow me to introduce myself… my name is Vicki James. I am the unseen face behind Breakthrough Racing representing DANIEL ORR this 2010 season, and, God willing, many seasons to come. I will be joining you here now and then to keep you updated on what Daniel is up to, what’s going on when he is at the races, and any upcoming appearances or interviews you should know about. Let’s work together to make this an interactive, entertaining, and informative place you want to visit to follow DANIEL ORR RACING!
As those friends and fans that have been following closely already know, last minute changes mere days before Daytona left Daniel out of the RRT ride he had taken for granted was his. Daniel’s experience and race record precedes him, however, so a handful of other teams had previously contacted him. After discussing his preference, the top three were chosen, contacted, negotiations begun, and as you all know by now, things worked out quite well for all concerned as Daniel Orr and Momentum Race Group took a top 10 finish at the “Fresh from Florida 200” at Daytona on Friday, January 29, 2010!
Daniel teamed with MRG co-owner, Jordan Musser, for the race in the spectacular 2010 Camaro GS.R. “It was my first time to actually race a front engine ‘big’ car; I’d always raced the Porsche, BMWs, etc. I was excited about the opportunity to race a true ‘Muscle Car’ – what guy isn’t?” Daniel said, flashing that ear-to-ear grin. “I was surprised when I climbed in the car for the first practice and immediately felt at home in the car. Sure we had a little snafu in the second round of practice, but we straightened that right out.”
Daniel was referring to some chassis changes they tried, thinking they might free the front-end up a little. Apparently all it did was make the back end want to come around on him though, and he found himself having to over-compensate too much on entry, losing too much time, so they put it back to the original set-up. Considering that this team only just came together and had no time testing, the fact that they were out there running laps over 100 mph was tremendous!
Race day brought the usual Daytona thrill and excitement, the air was thick with anticipation as teams hustled through checking off the final items on checklists in preparation for the day’s event. In the MRG pit, however, there was the added shaking of hands as this team prepared for its first race as a new team. Daniel would start the race, having qualified the #06 Camaro in the 35th position after dialing the chassis back left them 4 seconds shy of the speed they had captured in the first practice.
Once the green fell on this field, though, Daniel wasted no time in methodically and skillfully making his way one car at a time, through the pack, escaping the early race carnage, up to 8th place when time came to turn the driving duties over to his capable teammate, Jordan, who drove the car at a blistering pace back up to a top 10 finish in their first competition as a team.
Daniel was very impressed by the “professionalism and no nonsense approach” of the entire MRG team, he found that refreshing and something he wants to surround himself with in the future. He was elated with the entire day. In fact, once back home at the beach he so loves, speaking by phone to his mother in Pennsylvania, Daniel said, “If a tsunami came through here right now, I would just ride it out, I’m still so pumped up from the awesome day today! Nothin’ could bring me down!”

Sorry for my absence

Hello race fans,

I just got a very interesting messages on facebook from a driver that really made my night, Tony Adamowicz.

Tony Adamowicz "Daniel,
You have great talent and awesome start racing. Wishing you the Best in 2010".
Cheers !

This is someone that I looked up to as I was growing up. I think he has raced more cars then I have races. Here is his website http://www.a2zracer.com/. It was such an honor to have him comment on my driving ability.

Sorry for my absence, but on September 30th I was involved in a very serious car accident in which I lost a great friend. I was banged up pretty bad and very lucky to have lived through it. I have to say it was a wake up call for me. I was kept on this earth for a reason. So please accept my apologies for my disappearing act. Since then it has been a road of rehab in which now I am 100% ready for 2010.

After finding new management I have recently signed with RRT Racing for the 2010 Grand-Am Continental Tire Challenge Series. With new management came a few new sponsors. I have to thank Vicki James of http://breakthruracing.com/ for her guidance and all the work she is helping me with. Her roots go way back in racing when people didn't have to pull out their wallet for a little help. To have her as a manager teaching me on the way to winning the 2010 championship is invaluable. Nancy of http://www.hinchmanracewear.com/ is another sponsor on board for the season.

The first race in Daytona January 28th is approaching fast. Keep checking back for further updates as we get closer. Thank you all for your support.
