"Fresh from Florida 200" January 29, 2010 a Rousing Success!

Hi you guys! Allow me to introduce myself… my name is Vicki James. I am the unseen face behind Breakthrough Racing representing DANIEL ORR this 2010 season, and, God willing, many seasons to come. I will be joining you here now and then to keep you updated on what Daniel is up to, what’s going on when he is at the races, and any upcoming appearances or interviews you should know about. Let’s work together to make this an interactive, entertaining, and informative place you want to visit to follow DANIEL ORR RACING!
As those friends and fans that have been following closely already know, last minute changes mere days before Daytona left Daniel out of the RRT ride he had taken for granted was his. Daniel’s experience and race record precedes him, however, so a handful of other teams had previously contacted him. After discussing his preference, the top three were chosen, contacted, negotiations begun, and as you all know by now, things worked out quite well for all concerned as Daniel Orr and Momentum Race Group took a top 10 finish at the “Fresh from Florida 200” at Daytona on Friday, January 29, 2010!
Daniel teamed with MRG co-owner, Jordan Musser, for the race in the spectacular 2010 Camaro GS.R. “It was my first time to actually race a front engine ‘big’ car; I’d always raced the Porsche, BMWs, etc. I was excited about the opportunity to race a true ‘Muscle Car’ – what guy isn’t?” Daniel said, flashing that ear-to-ear grin. “I was surprised when I climbed in the car for the first practice and immediately felt at home in the car. Sure we had a little snafu in the second round of practice, but we straightened that right out.”
Daniel was referring to some chassis changes they tried, thinking they might free the front-end up a little. Apparently all it did was make the back end want to come around on him though, and he found himself having to over-compensate too much on entry, losing too much time, so they put it back to the original set-up. Considering that this team only just came together and had no time testing, the fact that they were out there running laps over 100 mph was tremendous!
Race day brought the usual Daytona thrill and excitement, the air was thick with anticipation as teams hustled through checking off the final items on checklists in preparation for the day’s event. In the MRG pit, however, there was the added shaking of hands as this team prepared for its first race as a new team. Daniel would start the race, having qualified the #06 Camaro in the 35th position after dialing the chassis back left them 4 seconds shy of the speed they had captured in the first practice.
Once the green fell on this field, though, Daniel wasted no time in methodically and skillfully making his way one car at a time, through the pack, escaping the early race carnage, up to 8th place when time came to turn the driving duties over to his capable teammate, Jordan, who drove the car at a blistering pace back up to a top 10 finish in their first competition as a team.
Daniel was very impressed by the “professionalism and no nonsense approach” of the entire MRG team, he found that refreshing and something he wants to surround himself with in the future. He was elated with the entire day. In fact, once back home at the beach he so loves, speaking by phone to his mother in Pennsylvania, Daniel said, “If a tsunami came through here right now, I would just ride it out, I’m still so pumped up from the awesome day today! Nothin’ could bring me down!”
